With a mission to accelerate MS research toward the prevention, better treatments and a cure for MS, MS Australia launched the charity challenge, The May 50k, to fundraise for this vital cause.
Challenge
As The May 50k evolved into the largest charity challenge of MS Australia's calendar, it was important that the technology continued to evolve also. MS Australia approached District to utilise their charity challenge platform, and create a May 50k app, that could do the following.
-
Fully integrate with their fundraising platform (Funraisin)
-
Log activities via the app and also link with wearable devices
-
Engage their users through the campaign to form a digital community
-
Provide content and touchpoint for users to share to their network and increase donations
Solution
District launched The May 50k app for MS Australia's charity challenge that integrated seamlessly with their web registration and fundraising platform, from Funraisin. This allowed their fundraisers a single point of login for multiple platforms. The in-app feed provided a seamless platform for fundraisers to keep track of their teams progress, and view how others were progressing in this charity challenge. The May 50k app utilised Augmented Reality filters and push notifications to allow users the ability to share key moments with their network, and ultimately drive additional donations for this great cause.
Results
The May 50k app, helped the MS Australia charity challenge have its biggest year to date, with almost $4million raised for MS research across Australia. The May 50k app received great reviews, achieving an app store rating of 4.5 out of 5, and the data showing that app users raised over 100% more than non-app users. We can't wait to see this event return and drive donations for this iconic charity challenge.
